Our Story - Acacia siwa

Inspired by the African Acacia tree, a symbol of resilience that flourishes in the harsh deserts of the continent, we chose the name Acacia. Much like this iconic tree, Acacia stands strong, rooted in the rich cultural and environmental landscape of Siwa, a region that has thrived in the Egyptian desert for thousands of years.

Our products are a reflection of Siwa’s unique cultural heritage and its present-day life. Each item tells a story, not just of craft but of the relationship between the Siwan people and nature. Drawing on traditional Siwan motifs and techniques, while fostering innovation inspired by the culture and nature, we ensure that every piece reflects authenticity while fitting into a modern world.

Workshop

Our workshop is led by Siwan women — a space to learn, share, and refine their skills, preserving traditional craftsmanship while collaborating with professional artisans. Through fair wages and a focus on quality, the workshop restores crafts to their rightful place and fosters economic independence.

Children’s center

Our children’s center is based on humanist principles that allows a space for inclusivity and answers the needs of each child. The center is run by trained Siwan women with the support of professionals in Montessori education, special needs, and child psychology.

Our community garden, which involves both cultivation and animal husbandry, is an initiative that directly benefits the local families.

Our staff have been trained in fair trade principles. The administration ensures transparency with the women, and engages them in collaborative critical thinking on wages, work structure, and production
